उदितो वा

लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 878 · प्रकरण 36, which opens at तुमुन्ण्वुलौ क्रियायां क्रियार्थायाम् · rule 34 of 39 in it

after a root marked with उ as its इत्, क्त्वा takes इट् optionally

After a root that is उदित् — one carrying उ as its इत् in the way it is taught in the root-list — the क्त्वा affix (the absolutive "having done") takes the augment इट् (the propping इ-) optionally (वा). So such a root may form its absolutive bare or with इ before क्त्वा. मत्वा "having thought", from मन् (an उदित् root), takes the bare option, setting क्त्वा straight on the root with no इ; the seṭ form मनित्वा is the other choice. The derivation names this rule on the silent step where the इट् is withheld under the option.
