7.3.59
न क्वादेः
Laghu-siddhāntakaumudī does not carry this rule. It stands in the Aṣṭādhyāyī at 7.3.59, and the abridgement is 1,269 of Pāṇini's 3,983 rules — so this is a place where the poem runs past the textbook.
no च/ज → guttural for a क्वादि root
The change of a root's च or ज to its guttural (क् or ग्), which 7.3.52 makes before the affixes घिणुण् and ण्यत्, does not take place for a root of the क्वादि group. So the ज of गर्ज् "to roar" is kept: गर्जितानाम् "of the thundered". The derivation names the rule on the silent step where the guttural is not substituted. This rule stands outside the Laghu-siddhāntakaumudī abridgement.
