न क्त्वा सेट्
लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 876 · प्रकरण 36, which opens at तुमुन्ण्वुलौ क्रियायां क्रियार्थायाम् · rule 32 of 39 in it
a क्त्वा affix that takes इट् is not treated as कित्
A क्त्वा affix — the absolutive suffix that makes "having done" — that is सेट् (takes the augment इट्, the propping इ-) is not treated as कित्, undoing the कित्-designation the surrounding rules would give it. Without the कित् mark the root is free to take the guṇa strengthening a कित् affix blocks. मीलयित्वा "having closed the eyes", where क्त्वा comes with इ before it, is सेट्, so क्त्वा is not कित् here and the root keeps its strengthened shape. The derivation names it on the silent step where the कित्-designation is withdrawn.
