after a long vowel, before जस्, the earlier form is kept
After a long vowel, before the nominative-plural ending जस् (its अस्), the earlier form remains as the single substitute (पूर्वरूप): the long vowel stands and the अ of जस् merges into it. So a feminine आ-stem like प्रार्थिता "the longed-for" gives प्रार्थिता + अस् → प्रार्थिताः "the longed-for ones (f.)". The च "and" carries this beside the नादिचि rule just before it.
