अद्ड् डतरादिभ्यः पञ्चभ्यः

लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 240 · प्रकरण 7, which opens at अतोऽम् · rule 8 of 17 in it

the neuter nom/acc singular of the five pronouns डतर, डतम, अन्य, अन्यतर, इतर is अद्ड्

For five pronoun stems — कतर, कतम (the डतर, डतम of the rule), अन्य, अन्यतर and इतर — in the neuter, the singular सु and अम् (nominative and accusative) are both replaced by अद्ड्, that is by अत् marked with ड्. The ड् marker then drops the stem's final vowel by 6.4.143, so अन्य gives अन्यत् and कतर gives कतरत्. It is why these five pronouns end in -त् in the neuter singular, where an ordinary a-stem would end in -म् (फलम्).
