अदस् 'that yonder' takes औ for its final and drops the सु of the nominative singular

In the nominative singular of अदस् “that (over there),” the final of अदस् is replaced by औ and the ending सु is dropped as well (सुलोपः). The Laghukaumudī then notes तदोरिति सः — the द् of the body turns to स् — so अदस् + सु yields असौ, “that one yonder,” the far-demonstrative to which इदम्, “this,” is the near counterpart. The pronoun declension carries this step, and the block reaches it through असौ (1.53).
