ओसि च

लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 146 · प्रकरण 5, which opens at अर्थवदधातुरप्रत्ययः प्रातिपदिकम् · rule 32 of 100 in it

before the ओस् ending, the final अ of an अ-stem becomes ए

Before the ending ओस् — the genitive-locative dual — the final अ of an अ-stem becomes ए. So नयन, 'eye', gives नयनयोः, 'of or in the two eyes', and राम gives रामयोः. It carries over to the dual's ओस् the same ए-substitution the previous rule makes before the plural endings सुप् and इस्, so that an अ-stem shows ए before all three of these vowel-initial terminations.
