असंयोगाल्लिट् कित्
लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 450 · प्रकरण 12, which opens at लः कर्मणि च भावे चाकर्मकेभ्यः · rule 80 of 179 in it
a लिट् ending after a non-conjunct is treated as कित्
A लिट् ending — a perfect personal ending — that comes after a root not ending in a conjunct (असंयोग, a root closing in a single consonant or a vowel) and is not पित् (not marked प् as its इत्) is treated as कित्, as though it carried क् as an इत्. The कित् mark blocks the guṇa or vṛddhi strengthening the ending would otherwise pull, so the root keeps its weak, unstrengthened shape. चक्रे "he made", जह्रे "he took" and ययाचे "he asked" all keep the low-grade root under this rule. The derivation names it on the silent step where the perfect ending is fixed as कित्.
