A ढ् is dropped when another ढ् follows. This clears the doubling that earlier changes produce: रुह् "to grow, to mount" has its ह् turned to ढ, and the suffix's त too becomes ढ, so the stem stands as रुढ् + ढ; the first ढ् then falls, and by ढ्रलोपे पूर्वस्य दीर्घोऽणः the vowel before it lengthens: रु + ढ → रूढ. So रूढैः "by the risen ones" and आरूढे "mounted".
