श्र्युकः किति
लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 649 · प्रकरण 16, which opens at स्वादिभ्यः श्नुः · rule 6 of 6 in it
श्रि and the single-vowel उक् roots take no इट् before a कित् affix
After श्रि "resort to" and after an एकाच् root — one of a single vowel — that ends in उक् (in उ, ऋ or ऌ), a कित् affix (one marked क् as its इत्) does not take the augment इट् (the इ- that otherwise props such an affix onto the root). These roots join their कित् suffix bare. श्रुत्वा "having heard" from श्रु, कृत्वा "having done" from कृ, हृतम् "carried" from हृ and तीर्णः "crossed" from तॄ all set the कित् क्त्वा or क्त straight on the root with no इ between. The derivation names this rule on the silent step where the इट् is withheld.
