A म् at the end of a word becomes anusvāra — the nasal dot ं — when a consonant follows: हरिम् + वन्दे → हरिं वन्दे "I praise Hari". The accusative singular in -म् and every word-final म् before a consonant is written this way; before a vowel or at a pause the म् itself stays.
