When an action has a हेतु — a causer who sets a doer to it — the affix णिच् (an इ that leaves guṇa or vṛddhi on the root) is placed after the root, and the prompter becomes the sentence's agent. रम् “take delight” → रमयति “gives delight” (1.33), दृश् “see” → दर्शयति “shows, causes to see” (1.39), वह् “carry” → वाहयति “has it carried” (1.40).
