लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 368 · प्रकरण 11, which opens at स्वरादिनिपातमव्ययम् · rule 3 of 5 in it

a form ending in क्त्वा, तोसुन् or कसुन् is called अव्यय (indeclinable)

A word ending in the suffix क्त्वा, तोसुन् or कसुन् is called अव्यय — indeclinable, taking no case ending and never changing form. क्त्वा makes the absolutive, the "having done X" form that leans on a later verb: श्रुत्वा "having heard" is such a word, fixed in shape. When a prefix stands before the root, क्त्वा is replaced by ल्यप् (by 7.1.37), and the ल्यप् form keeps this same अव्यय name — so आलिङ्ग्य "having embraced" and एत्य "having come" are indeclinable too. The derivation names this rule where it fixes the absolutive as an अव्यय.
