क्तक्तवतू निष्ठा

लघुसिद्धान्तकौमुदी 810 · प्रकरण 34, which opens at ण्वुल्तृचौ · rule 31 of 64 in it

the क्त and क्तवतु affixes are named निष्ठा

The two affixes क्त and क्तवतु are given the name निष्ठा. क्त makes the past passive participle (कृतम् "done") and क्तवतु the past active participle (कृतवत् "having done"); gathering both under one name lets the later rules that shape them — the ones that add or withhold the augment इट्, or change the root before them — reach both by one word. प्रमत्तः "heedless", from मद् with क्त, तीर्णः "crossed", from तॄ, and विरचिताम् "arranged", from रच् with the causative, all end in a निष्ठा affix. The derivation names it on the silent step where the affix is fixed as निष्ठा.
